With just about a week to go, Bass Player LIVE! 2011 is shaping up
to have the most star-studded lineup in the 12-year history of the
event. Recent additions to the clinics and concert include the following
bass aces. Marcus Miller will present Larry Graham’s
Lifetime Acheivement Award at the Key Club concert, perform as a guest
in Larry’s set, and appear at S.I.R. on Saturday Oct. 22 for a 12 Noon
meet-and-greet at a location still to be determined. Pino Palladino
will be introducing his new signature Ashdown Pedal, performing with
the James Jamerson Tribute Band at the Key Club, and co-hosting the
Jamerson Appreciation clinic on Sunday at S.I.R. Anthony Jackson will make a Saturday booth appearance at Fodera before his award duties at the Key Club. Abraham Laboriel will be doing a live clinic/interview on Saturday afternoon. Oskar Cartaya will be holding a Saturday afternoon clinic with a Latin ensemble. Brian Bromberg will
address his dazzling doubling skills in a Saturday afternoon clinic, as
well as discuss some interesting new projects. Multi-instrumentalist
Barry Mitterhoff will be joining Lifetime recipient Jack Casady
and Jorma Kaukonen, making Acoustic Hot Tuna’s performance a trio
affair. And all the way from South America, Igor Saavedra, an 8-string
bassist, will demonstrate his unique instrument and technique in a
Saturday morning clinic.
Multi-player clinics are a feature this year, with a rock roundtable anchored by
dUg Pinnick and
Blasko on Saturday morning; a Sunday morning hip hop/R&B tilt boasting
Divinity Roxx,
Norwood Fisher, and
Robert “Bubby” Lewis;
