For its 2012 Special Collection series of basses, G&L has gotten nekkid—or Nearly Naked, as they call it—with a new ultra-thin Honey Ale finish. All three bass models feature two-piece swamp ash bodies, maple necks, and rosewood fingerboards, and are built at G&L’s factory in Fullerton, California.

Following its BG250 combo (see Soundroom, September ’12), TC Electronic has released the latest in ultra-light Class D bass heads, the BH250. The 4-pound head is rated at 250 watts, has r" headphone and XLR outputs, and USB connectivity for utilizing TC Electronic’s TonePrint effect technology. It is scheduled for October release.

Gretcsh’s affordable Electromatic line just got a whole lot cooler with the addition of the G5440LSB and G5442BDC hollowbody basses. The 34"-scale G5440LSB and 30"-scale G5442- BDC both feature bound bodies, soundpost bracing, Filter’Tron pickups, maple necks, and bound rosewood fingerboards. The single-cutaway G5440LSB is available in black and orange finishes, and the double-cutaway G5442BDC comes in black and red.

Thunderbird Classic-IV PRO basses
The latest incarnation of Epiphone’s Thunderbird is a neck-through, 34"-scale throwback with black hardware, mahogany body wings, and 20 medium-jumbo frets. The seven-ply mahogany/ walnut laminate neck has a rounded, ’60s-style profile and a 12" fingerboard radius; the two Gibson TB Plus pickups are matched with neck and bridge pickup controls, as well as a master tone knob. Available in alpine white and vintage sunburst.
