ACM Announces Award Nominees - Dean Markley Strings DominateApril, 2008 In 2008, the Academy of Country Music Awards heads into its 43rd year honoring country music’s top talent, as well as the industry’s hottest emerging stars. This year's nominees were announced live on the CBS Early Show on March 4 with the help of country superstars Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood during a press conference at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville. As is often the case, the nominees for this year's Academy of Country Music Awards encompass the width and breadth of the Dean Markley Strings endorsing artist roster. Markley artists have once again been nominated in almost every category. Major Markley nominees placing in multiple categories include George Strait (Entertainer of the Year and Top Male Vocalist), Miranda Lambert (Top Female Vocalist, Album of the Year, and Single Record of the Year), Rodney Atkins (Top Male Vocalist, Video of the Year, Song of the Year, and Album of the Year), Sugarland (Top Vocal Duo, Song of the Year, Video of the Year, and Single Record of the Year), Emerson Drive (Top Vocal Group and Song of the Year), and Big and Rich (Top Vocal Duo, Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year). Additional ACM-nominated Markley artists include Carrie Underwood (Top Female Vocalist) and Jack Ingram (Top New Male). Since its inception in 1965, the Academy of Country Music Awards show has grown in stature with each year. This year, for the first time in ACM history, fans will be able to choose the winner of Entertainer of the Year. Voting begins May 5 with more details being announced at the official ACM site. This year's ACM Awards show will be broadcast live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on May 18, 2008 at 8:00 p.m. (eastern time) on CBS Television, in a ceremony hosted by Reba McEntire.
