Ashdown Classic Bass Amps to be Born in the USAApril, 2008 In a move that sees a dramatic increase in its commitment to US bass players, UK-based Ashdown Engineering has established a manufacturing facility in Louisville, KY for the production of the market leading Ashdown Classic range of bass amp heads, cabinets and combos. The new plant will serve the growing demand for Ashdown products in the US, Canada and South America, and will exist alongside Ashdown’s UK factory which will continue to produce Classic bass amps for the European market. US manufactured product will come on stream in June 08, coinciding with the Summer NAMM Show at which Ashdown expects to announce significantly lower North American pricing, along with shorter delivery times for US and Canadian dealers. “With artists including the Foo Fighters, System Of A Down, U2, Paul McCartney and Radiohead using Ashdown, demand for our products in the US is going through the roof,” reports Ashdown CEO Mark Gooday. “Naturally we want to make our flagship bass amps available to US bass players at affordable prices, and we’re also incredibly proud to be manufacturing in the USA at a time when most other brands are moving offshore.” Also slated for US manufacturing is the Mark King Signature Series amp head and combo, and Ashdown’s new ultra-light neo-loaded Superfly bass cabinets.
