CD Review: Buddy Guy "Rhythm & Blues"
By Jon D’Auria
Tue, 29 Oct 2013

On the riff-scorching new album by guitar legend Buddy Guy, blues/country session extraordinaire Michael Rhodes holds down the low end with a little help from fellow studio ace Tommy MacDonald. Rhodes and MacDonald’s earthy support underneath Guy’s energetic riffs amount to a masterclass in old-school blues lines with modern inflections, and the soulful bass runs on songs like “Best In Town” and “Meet Me In Chicago” stand out among the album’s thick tone and tight chops.
