For ex-Something Corporate frontman Andrew McMahon, seamless pop songwriting seems second-nature, but that hasn’t stopped him from investing exhaustive emotion into his side-project-turned-full-time focus Jack’s Mannequin. The disc’s standout track is the single, “Resolution,” with a tight verse groove anchored by bassist Jonathan Sullivan. The album boasts many driving and inventive rock grooves, such as the dancy blur of “Spinning” and tasty (but tasteful) licks in the anthemic “What Gets You Off.”
