Besides a 5-band EQ with ±18dB at 50Hz, 160Hz,
630Hz, 2.5kHz, and 12kHz, HAO’s Bass Liner
preamp—co-designed by Phil Jones of Phil Jones
Bass—offers true-bypass switching, a secondary direct output jack, and a mute
switch. The
compact unit runs on either a 9-volt battery or
an AC adaptor, though optional 18-volt operation
improves dynamic range and headroom.

2x10H Bass Cabinet
The renowned Canadian bass company headed
by George Furlanetto introduces its first bass
cabinet, a 46-pound, 4Ω 2x10 that handles 400
watts RMS and comes with a tweeter, a two-way
crossover, Speakon and q" connectors, hinging
steel/plastic “kick-back” handles, black “Ozite”
carpet finish, and an 18-gauge steel grille. Frequency response is 40Hz to
25kHz.

in two 32"-scale flavors: The Vintage Modified
Telecaster Bass has a Duncan Designed PB-102
SCPB single-coil pickup and three-way switching
among special tone circuits, while the Vintage
Modified Telecaster Bass Special has a large
chrome-covered Fender-designed Wide Range
humbucking neck pickup, Duncan Designed
JB-102B single-coil Jazz Bass bridge pickup, and
3-way blade switching. Both models are available
in black and vintage blonde finishes.

Epiphone looks back to yesteryear with the Toby
Deluxe-V, a 5-string version of the bass originally
designed by Michael Tobias. The Deluxe-V’s
radiata body, hard rock maple neck, and rose-
wood fingerboard are matched with master
volume, pickup blend, and master EQ controls,
plus an active Tonexpressor Bass Enhancement
Control, which both boosts and cuts bass and
treble frequencies simultaneously to add precise
bottom end. The Deluxe-V is available in ebony,
translucent red, and vintage sunburst finishes.

Ibanez adds another active 6-string to its SR
series with the 34"-scale, 24-fret SR256PW, which
boasts a mahogany body, a bolt-on three-piece
maple neck, and a rosewood fingerboard. The
SR256PW’s pickups are a pair of the company’s
punchy CAP EXF-N2 pickups, and the EQB-IIID
preamp gives you control over volume, balance,
bass, mid, and treble.
