Modern Drummer magazine and Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp present Rock's Rhythm Masters, the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll experience, Nov. 8–10, at the MGM Grand Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. Campers will live a part of the star-studded rocker life with their favorite musicians as they write music, rehearse as members of a band, record original music, and perform live. The three-day camp, which is on-sale now at, is affordably priced at $1,995.

“Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp and Modern Drummer is a perfect marriage and our campers will be excited at the terrific rock star line line-up we have for them,” said Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp Founder David Fishof. “The affordable pricing is meant to bring the rock camp experience to everyone.”

Campers will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to learn from rock’s rhythm masters who have played and toured with some of music’s greatest acts of all-time, including Waddy Wachtel (Stevie Nicks, Keith Richards, and James Taylor), Russ Kunkel (Bob Dylan and Neil Young), Leland Sklar (Phil Collins and Jackson Browne), Hal Blaine (Elvis, John Denver, Simon & Garfunkel), John ‘JR’ Robinson (Michael Jackson, John Fogerty and David Lee Roth), Jim Keltner (George Harrison and John Lennon), and Danny Kortchmar (James Taylor and Don Henley.)

Over the course of three rock filled days, campers will be placed into bands led by rock star counselors including Alan White (YES) and Joe Vitale (The Eagles) and Musical Director Jeff Foskett (The Beach Boys). Musicians will hone their stage presence, learn to play some of rock music’s greatest songs, get tips on playing as a band and hear stories of life on the road from their rock star counselors. Campers will also attend master classes with renowned musicians prior to performing live with their band in front of an audience at MGM Grand.

“What we will try to pass along to the campers is how we function as an ensemble. How to work together as a band. wherein each player finds something he likes to play, but much more importantly, something that really works in terms of counterpoint. Counterpoint to the melody of the song I am referring to, since that is the whole point of it all. Supporting the song, not trying to play like a virtuoso soloist. Great records live forever because of several elements, and that is definitely one of the most crucial." – Waddy Wachtel

Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp’s multi-day camps were created for advanced musicians of any instrument including drums, keyboard, guitar, bass, horns and vocals. RRFC provides all instruments and backline but campers are encouraged to bring their own equipment with them.

Rock’s Rhythm Masters Presented by Modern Drummer is priced at $1,995 as part of an early bird special for any sign-ups before Oct. 1. Campers can have the true rock experience by adding a private, eight-hour recording session for $2,500 in Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp’s state-of-the-art recording studios.
