For 33 years, bassist Reggie Scanlan anchored the swamp-rocking Radiators, who traditionally closed the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival until breaking up in 2010. Scanlan immediately formed the New Orleans Suspects including longtime Neville Brothers drummer “Mean” Willie Green. Imagine Rocco Prestia-like precision locked with second-line grooves—tight! For this Mardi Gras engagement guitarist and mandolin player Fred Tackett from Little Feat will join the party, and ahis son’s band Breakestra will kick it off.
The Suspects are coming to the Bay Area for a three-night jaunt that begins on Thursday, February 20th at the Brick & Mortar, hits the New Parrish in Oakland on the 21st, and then bounces back to the Brick on Saturday, February 22nd where Bass Player will be onsite handing out free D’Addario strings, Planet Waves accessories, and conducting a raffle to win a Hartman Envelope Filter. You know how NOLA folks are about their food—they gotta have the goodness—and the Suspects will have premier Cajun chef Jacques Leonardi of Jacques-Imo’s fame in tow, so come hungry and ready to groove!
Check out the Suspects playing “Spanish Moon/American Woman.”
