CD Review: Nine Inch Nails "Hesitation Marks"

December 3, 2013

NIN’s trademark synth and electronic sounds get a straightforward rock boost on this album courtesy of none other than bass guru Pino Palladino. In an unusual collaboration, Palladino splits the bass duties with Autolux’s Eugene Goreshter and Trent Reznor himself. Palladino’s unmistakable groove stands out most on “All Time Low,” where he locks into the pocket and brings some unexpected funk. Whether it’s extreme synth lines or moody bass riffs, this album offers extreme low frequencies in true NIN fashion.
