“Soundgear (also called SR) is probably considered one of our core contributions to the bass world,” explains Ibanez USA Bass Product Manager Mao Nakamura. “It’s tough to do but we’re constantly trying to surpass the previous generation in terms of playability, craft and design. This new SR800 is a source of immense pride for the luthiers who build these basses.”

This year’s addition to Ibanez’s SR series is sure to turn some heads. With an amber finish of its poplar burl-topped body, the SR800M (SR805 5-string version) exemplifies luthiery that expertly leverages nature’s beauty. And while there are a host of high-end appointments, like the breathtaking tone palette of Bartolini® MK-1 pickups and the EQB-IIIS eq, Nakamura points out, “For my money, this may be one of the most beautiful SRs ever offered. But that’s not why it rocks. It rocks because it’s an Ibanez SR!”
