Watch The Making of a Warwick Custom Buzzard Bass (VIDEO)

November 28, 2017

From Warwick: This week's MAKING OF video shows the creation of a distinctive Warwick Custom Shop Masterbuilt Instrument, a Buzzard in Metallic Black with Gold Metal Flakes, which we made on behalf of a customer from France.

The name Buzzard for this Warwick model has an optical and a tonal aspect: the body and headstock form is reminiscent of the silhouette of a buzzard on the one hand, and the term "buzz" on the other hand is the English sound word for the tone of a bass guitar as soon as you hit a string.

This 4 string Buzzard features a Zebrano wood body, and a "Hidden Neck" Wenge neck with a Wenge fretboard. The metallic black high polish finish with gold metal flakes surrounds the entire body and the back of the neck. 26 extra-hard jumbo bronze frets are precisely set into the Wenge fingerboard with IFT (Invisible Fretwork Technology). Active MEC P pickups are used in combination with active Warwick 2-way electronics. The integrated lithium battery can be recharged via USB cable without having to unscrew the wooden cover. Other hardware details include a Just-A-Nut III brass nut, Warwick machines with wooden knobs, illuminated fretboard markers, illuminated “W“ logo on the headstock, a 2-piece solid Warwick brass bridge, Dunlop Flush-mount strap system and gold hardware.
