Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Award to Flea; clinics by Chuck Rainey, dUg Pinnick, Bunny Brunel and Andrew Gouche announced for Bass Player LIVE! 2017.
The Bass Player LIVE! 2017 lineup continues to build, as the premier bass event returns to Los Angeles on Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5. SIR Studios, at 6465 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood will once again be the location for two days of exhibits by top gear manufacturers and clinics by world-class bassists. An All-Star concert featuring this year’s award recipients will be held on the evening of November 4. Highlights of this much-anticipated bass bash include:
*A Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Award presented to rock superstar and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, followed by a performance featuring Flea’s friends at the All-Star Concert
*A Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Award presented to session legend and James Taylor bassist Jimmy Johnson. Johnson will accept his award and then perform with his band at the All-Star Concert on Nov. 4, as well as hold a live clinic interview on Nov. 5
*A Posthumous Bass Player Lifetime Achievement Award for R&B icon and Booker T. & the MGs bassist Donald “Duck” Dunn. Dunn’s son, Jeff Dunn, will accept the award at the All-Star Concert on Nov. 4. He will also join Nick Rosaci, author of the new Dunn biography Soul Fingers, and L.A. session bass great Bob Glaub for a Dunn tribute clinic on Nov. 5. Copies of the book will be available for purchase and signings.
*The return of the All-Star Jam on Sunday Nov. 5
*Performance clinics featuring Bunny Brunel (with Armand Sabal-Lecco and Hadrien Feraud); Oskar Cartaya; and Andrew Gouche
*A funk throwdown performance clinic by New York City-based Reggie Young, making his Bass Player LIVE! debut
*A rock panel clinic featuring dUg Pinnick
*An education panel clinic featuring Steve Bailey
*Bonnie Raitt bassist Hutch Hutchinson making his Bass Player LIVE! clinic debut
*Nashville session bass great Dave Pomeroy making his Bass Player LIVE! clinic debut

The Bass Player LIVE! clinics, exhibits, and Awards Presentation/All-Star Concert at SIR Studios in Hollywood will be held Saturday, November 4 from 11:00 AM-10:00 PM and Sunday, November 5 from 11:00 AM-7:00 PM. Bass players and musicians of all ages, levels and styles are invited to attend.
