Ethan Farmer’s longtime mantra has been “bass in yo’ face all over the place,” and he delivers exactly that on his second album.

Ethan Farmer’s longtime mantra has been “bass in yo’ face all over the place,” and he delivers exactly that on his second album. Equal parts gospel, fusion, and R&B, Farmer’s layers upon layers of slap licks and soulful runs are more tenacious than ever. Funk-fusion tracks such as “Kung Fu” and “ShowDown” explode with energy, while jazzier numbers like “Beautiful” and “Love Again” demonstrate Farmer’s tasteful and melodic sides. Listeners will no doubt come for the slap magic and stay for the hand-clapping grooves.
