Guitarist Russell Mofsky’s gorgeously recorded cowboy and surf-movie instrumentals get a lift from warm, precise lines played by James Quinlan and Brian Tate. Quinlan’s melodic thumb-mute on “Nani Maka” is just what the doctor ordered, while Tate nails the Afrobeat vibe on “Humble Hill” and rocks a cool upright line and solo on “See Legs.” Also a highlight: Tate’s restrained perfection on the title track.
