CD Review: Halestrom "Into the Wild Life"

The latest album from the mainstream hard rock outfit Halestorm is built upon polished production, anthemic choruses, and the foundational style of Josh Smith.

The latest album from the mainstream hard rock outfit Halestorm is built upon polished production, anthemic choruses, and the foundational style of Josh Smith. Whether achieving a variety of distortion and gain-fueled tones or keeping his signal chain clean, the production quality of Smith’s low end is superb. His fingerstyle riffs shine most dominantly on the charging opener, “Scream,” the almost pop-country ballad “Amen,” and the speedy rock number “Mayhem.”
