Blending neo-soul, trip-hop, and funk, this talented Australian quartet shines thanks to the grooving lines of Paul Bender. With the warm sound of his Lakland, the producer/bassist channels serious R&B tone for tracks like “Mobius Streak,” “The World Softly Lulls” and “Nakamarra.” Perhaps the most unusual song on the album is “Ocelot,” where Bender swaps his 4-string for a bass synth to create a swelling landscape of deep frequencies.
