Matisyahu continues his longtime working alliance with Dub Trio, which means, fortunately, that Stu Brooks is in charge of both low end and and production. Though Akeda sees Matisyahu experimenting with new flavors, Brooks’ dub bass still pounds on tracks like “Broken Car” and “Black Heart,” while he favors deep synth bass on the pop ballad “Champion” and faster muted lines for the Brit-rock, new-wave sound of “Ayeka.”
