CD Review: Michael Franti & Spearhead "All People"

All People is certainly the most heavily produced, studio programmed album yet from Michael Franti and his roots-reggae fusion outfit, but that’s not to say that bassist Carl Young doesn’t have a heavy hand on the record.

All People is certainly the most heavily produced, studio programmed album yet from Michael Franti and his roots-reggae fusion outfit, but that’s not to say that bassist Carl Young doesn’t have a heavy hand on the record. “Life Is Better With You,” “Earth From Outer Space,” and “Gansgta Girl” are proof of Young’s ability to drive the band rhythmically. His lines are often lean, but his tastefulness in choosing each note makes this album shine from the low end.
