You may know D’Addario as a string company but for over thirty years, they’ve been fierce advocates of music education because of its power to affect positive social change, particularly in underserved communities.

Through the D’Addario Foundation, they’ve touched the lives of thousands of kids by giving 10% of their net profits each year to over 200 of the best grassroots programs in the world. Unlike many foundations, 100% of every dollar goes directly to programs on the frontlines, translating into thousands of children who have access to the impact of music education.

What differentiates the D'Addario foundation from others is its commitment to sustained funding of programs that provide engaging music instruction that occurs multiple times per week, preferably year-round. This models supports positive social changes - kids showing up for school more often, getting better grades and graduating on time.

Next Thursday September 22nd, the D’Addario Foundation will host the benefit concert “Music Makes You” at the BRIC Arts and Media Space in Brooklyn.

GRAMMY nominated producer, songwriter and guitarist Blake Mills (Alabama Shakes) is serving as the evening’s bandleader. Comedian Seth Herzog from Chapelle’s Show and longtime warm-up comic for Jimmy Fallon and The Tonight Show, will host.

Throughout the night Mills will be joined on stage by Karen O & Nick Zinner (of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), Lucius, Janis Ian, Smokey Hormel, Kaki King, Julian Lage and Marc Ribot for an inspiring night of music. 100% of ticket sales will go to music education programs for underprivileged kids all over the country.
