Elixir Strings, the pioneer in coated string technology, announces two changes to its bass string line. Elixir Strings for bass are now available in coated stainless steel, with the bright, clear tone typical of stainless bass strings, but easier on the fingers and with a much longer tone life. The original nickel-plated Elixir Strings for bass, now have improved tone, feel and flexibility. Elixir Strings has both the new stainless and improved nickel-plated bass strings available for players to try at the Elixir Strings NAMM booth, #4272, Hall C.
Though Elixir Strings bass strings are the #1 selling coated bass string, the company pursued improvements based on player feedback. It adjusted the design to improve the string tone, flexibility and ease of playing. Elixir Strings also refined its patented, ultra-thin NANOWEB® Coating especially for bass in order to produce a more natural finger feel and coating durability. Players report that Elixir Strings for bass guitars retain their tone longer than any other string, uncoated or coated.
“We’re proud to be the creator of the coated bass strings category,” says Product Manager Steve Rosenberg. “But we’re always looking to improve. We talked with a lot of bass players to get their sense of what they wanted in a bass string—coated or uncoated. With the new Stainless strings and the improved Nickel-plated strings, players are now telling us that Elixir Strings for bass not only have a long tone life, but they sound great and feel great as well.”
