The Kai Eckhardt Band and Stanley Jordan

Empress Theater Vallejo, CA

Sunday, August 21- Matinee at 2pm Evening Show at 7pm.

An evening with The Kai Eckhardt Band and Stanley Jordan. Rooted in old school funk, Kai Eckhardt expanded into the world of contemporary jazz as the bassist for the John McLaughlin Trio in the late 80s. As an original member of the Jam Band Garaj Mahal, Kai composed the song that won the band the 2007 independent music awards in the jam band category. The band is Osam Ezzeldin on Keyboards, Sean Rickman on Drums, Chris Robinson on Guitar, and Kai Eckhardt on Bass and Vocals. Stanley Jordan has consistently displayed a chameleonic musical persona of openness, imagination, versatility and maverick daring. Be it bold reinventions of classical masterpieces or soulful explorations through pop-rock hits, to blazing straight ahead jazz forays and ultramodern improvisational works—solo or with a group—Jordan can always be counted on to take listeners on breathless journeys into the unexpected. Jordan’s innovative “touch technique” is an advanced form of two-handed tapping. It also allows Jordan to play simultaneously on two different guitars, or even on guitar and piano. This is a very rare co-headline concert that you will not want to miss. We are offering a $5.00 discount for all students (elementary, high school, & college). Choose Student pricing (Default is Adult) in the pull down menu when buying your ticket online (must bring student id to show at the door). Two Showtimes – 2pm Matinee and 7pm Evening performance. We highly recommend buying your tickets in advance as these shows could very well sell out in advance.
