How did you come to play bass? They had an after-school guitar class at the Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts, and I was the only one who signed up so they cancelled it. The teacher was also the orchestra director and asked if I wanted to take the upright bass via his class, since the notes transferred directly to electric bass. How could I resist?

What’s a lesson you’ve learned along the way? Someone told me a long time ago, “It’s not called ‘the music pleasure.’” There are times when music becomes a job. That’s the time to change your situation or lay it down for awhile, because all the really good music is created when you’re having fun.

What are your musical goals? I would love to be the bass player on a song that went national.
