How did you come to play bass?

An uncle showed me, as a way to keep me out of trouble at a time when I was headed towards BIG trouble. It totally worked.

What’s a lesson you’ve learned along the way?

To sit back on the groove when stuff gets crazy on stage, and that an anchor is more important than an engine.

What are your musical goals?

World tour

How did you come to play bass?

In the ’80s everyone was a guitarist or a guitarist trying to play bass. I knew I’d be wanted if I took up the bass, and I always loved the push/pull relationship between drums and bass.

What’s a lesson you’ve learned along the way?

Musically, stay out the way of vocalists and guitarists. Less is more—keep it simple.

What are your musical goals?

To continue helping write the story of rock & rol in whatever way I can, no matter how small.
