Tommy Stinson, an internationally recognized bass player currently in Guns N’ Roses and Soul Asylum, and formerly of The Replacements, will hold an online fund-raiser on CharityBuzz.com by selling personal and donated items to raise money and build awareness for the Timkatec Schools, three facilities located in Petion-Ville, a suburb of Port Au Prince in Haiti.

The fund-raiser will commence on charitybuzz.com on Tuesday, September 21st and end on Tuesday, October 12th. Items will be sold to the highest bidder (some minimum bids apply) and include: signed Fender Precision and Ernie Ball Sterling bass guitars that Tommy used in Guns N’ Roses; two retired custom-made plaid suits from Stinson’s GNR tours; a week-long stay at The Reef Atlantis in the Bahamas, including airfare from anywhere in the world; an art package from former Replacements drummer Chris Mars; two VIP passes to Coachella 2011 courtesy of Goldenvoice; two tickets to a sold-out Arcade Fire show in L.A. courtesy of Goldenvoice; a First Act guitar signed by Stinson, Paul Westerberg and Chris Mars; 4 tickets to any show on the current Guns N’ Roses European tour, including a meet’n’greet with Tommy; a Soul Asylum memorabilia package; and so much more! The proceeds from all sales benefit the Tommy Stinson Timkatec Initiative For Haiti. The direct link for the auction is: http://www.charitybuzz.com/auctions/tommystinson

In late July of this year, Stinson traveled to Haiti to attend the graduation ceremonies and to hand out diplomas at Timkatec 2 in Petion-Ville and to witness first-hand the continued devastation of the historic January earthquake. As the world's attention has turned elsewhere, Haiti, the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, is still struggling to recover and the situation in Port au Prince is still threatened by the chaotic situation existing there.

The three Timkatec centers support over 500 homeless and abandoned children and are desperately in need financial support. The three centers, originally founded in 1994, bring some relief and normalcy to the children in the post earthquake chaos by providing food, shelter, education, structure and training as plumbers, electricians, tailors, construction workers, cooks, seamstresses and child care workers. The results are improvements in health, literacy, self-esteem and, above all, the ability to support one’s self.

Consider these facts:
• 150 students and employees are unaccounted for and have been replaced from the thousands of newly homeless.
• Medical treatment for the girls is a new and significant unplanned expense.
• A psychologist is on staff to counsel the children suffering from post-traumatic stress as frequent after-shocks still occur.
• Many Timkatec students still sleep outside.
• The need to assist staff with minimum housing and clothing so they could return to work is an unplanned expense.
• The water and fuel situation is critical and expensive. Food is 15-25% higher in costs.

Stinson is committed to his continued support of the Timkatec Centers. His goals are to raise enough money to put 50 students through the program and to add another floor to one of the facilities.
