Victor Bailey’s Basses Featured In Auction
News from the estate of the late, great Victor Bailey. As per Victor’s wishes, his estate is placing several of his basses and other studio and road gear up for auction on May 14, 2017, via Skinner Auctioneers & Appraisers [see link below]. Among the basses is Bailey’s 1986 Pensa-Suhr J4, used on the recording of his first solo album, Bottom’s Up [Atlantic, 1989], as well as on albums and tours with Steps Ahead, Michael Brecker, Randy Brecker, and Bireli Lagrene. Other basses include a Fender Victor Bailey Signature acoustic bass guitar, two Fender Jazz Basses, a Fodera NYC Deluxe, and a fretless Ibanez Roadstar. A Boss pedalboard with six effects and a tuner, a pair of Fender barstools, and Madonna memorabilia round out the auction. In addition, Berklee Bass Dept. Chairman Steve Bailey and members of the Bass Department will hold a Tribute to Victor Bailey performance on May 12 at the Skinner Boston Gallery, 63 Park Place, Boston, MA.
