One of the most anticipated rock albums of the year is nearly upon us, and now you can listen to the debut album from Wakrat (from TODAY Monday, November 7th) by signing up to become a citizen of the band's new protest state 'Republic Of Wakrat'. The album will be out tomorrow (November 8th) digitally, and physically on this Friday, November 11th via Earache Records.

In the words of Tim Commerford (Rage Against The Machine bassist and front man of Wakrat) the protest state was formed to, "throw a wrench in the establishment" and to offer an alternative to people who have become disillusioned with corrupt and elitist governments around the world as explained in the constitution. Commerford continues, "The current system is oppressive and elitist, promoting racist ideologies in order to push a self-serving agenda whilst an entire generation is put jeopardy. We condemn this behavior and Republic Of Wakrat exists to expose it."

Explaining the legality of the daring maneuver on their website, the band highlight an ancient loophole, which they say gives them the authority to start The Republic of Wakrat on what was formerly known as Parliament Square. The land now known as Westminster, is actually an island called Thorney Island. Originally the property of King Offa back in the 700's, Wakrat claim that it has never been officially claimed by anyone else. Commerford explains, "This area remains the property of King Offa, Mercian King under his charter which is in [Westminster] Abbey."

Self-described as 'two French nationals and one American anarchist', Wakrat is promising to shake up the system and attack modern music with their contemporary take on aggressive rock. Notorious for his infamous bass lines in Rage Against The Machine, Commerford fronts Wakrat on vocals and bass over a tight mix of punchy, rhythmic and dynamic rock, fueled by political dissent, social commentary and an undiminished subversion and questioning of authority.

To support the release of the forthcoming, self-titled, debut LP, the band will headline LA's Troubadour on November 16th. This show comes on the heels of THE MAKE AMERICA RAGE AGAIN TOUR, a 30 date arena tour across North America that featured live performances from Wakrat, AWOLNATION and Prophets of Rage.
