When Pink Floyd first emerged from London in 1965, their progressive and psychedelic rock sound took listeners by storm. Even 50 years later their iconic music is still a major influence to bands and musicians all over the world. A large part of Pink Floyd's mass appeal lies in the powerful bass work of Roger Waters. Here are a couple examples of why his playing made such a deep impact.

Here Waters and Pink Floyd perform "Echoes" from their 1972 film, Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, featuring where the band performed at the ancient Roman amphitheatre in Pompeii, Italy.

On 2 July 2005 Pink Floyd performed at the London Live 8 concert with Roger Waters rejoining David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. It was the quartet's first performance together in over 24 years — the band's last show with Waters was at Earls Court in London on 17 June 1981.
