In an effort to help cover the costs of his two-year-old nephew Matthew’s leukemia treatments, Les Claypool put one of his two Pachyderm basses on Ebay. The 32”-scale 4-string, designed by Claypool and built by luthier Dan Maloney, has LED position markers, a Kahler tremolo bar, a custom split EMG pickup, and a single control knob. Bidding started at $900 but quickly rose to a winning bid of $50,599.99. Here’s to Uncle Les’ generosity and to a healthy future for Baby Matthew.
