Live 105's BFD Review

Gracing the shoreline amphitheater once again this year was the Bay Area radio station Live 105’s annual BFD (Big Effing Deal) concert on June 6th.

The all day event brought a slew of alternative rock fans who came to catch the sights of Bay Area darlings such as Dizzy Balloon, who’s bassist Raphael Peterson crafted his bass himself, Audrey Sessions, with the lovely Alicia Campbell holding down the back beat and The Catholic Comb. While checking out old favorites like Alkaline Trio, The Yeah Yeahs, and 311, many discovered new favorites.
The Local Lounge Stage felt like a picnic in the park, while The Festival Stage was the center of the show up until the Main Stage opened at 7 p.m.
Fans could get a glimpse of their rock star obsessions during live interviews with the Live 105 DJ’s as well as collect autographs and get a chance to meet them in person.
One of the unexpected highlights was the Subsonic Tent where groups like hip-hop stars Zion-I, and electro-pop Crystal Castles filled the tent with electric energy and had everybody working-it-out.
While the Main Stage was suppose to be the focal point of the event, the Festival Stage seemed to steal the show with outstanding performances by Glasvegas who’s bassist was sporting a cool Airline Map Bass by Eastwood Guitars, Mute Math with great onstage antics and Taking Back Sunday with bassist Matt Rubano jumping around while vocalist Adam Lazzara whipped his mic cord around his neck as he sung. Another annual festival down, lots more to look forward to this summer!
