Albion Musical Instruments has announced Onori Entertainment as their new distributor to launch a new line of guitar and bass amplifiers in the United States. The new line will debut at the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) trade show in January 2011. The show takes place in Anaheim, California where long time amplifier designer Steve Grindrod and industry veteran, Richie Onori will be on hand to explain the new venture, demonstrate the new product line, and sign up new dealers.
The new line includes 300-watt ABH300H and 180-watt ABH180H hybrid bass heads, plus 1x12 and 2x10 combos and 2x10, 1x15, 4x15, and 2x15 cabinets.
For those unfamiliar with the history of Steve Grindrod, apart from having been a pro musician and building his first guitar amp at the age of 13, he has been designing and engineering amplifier and speaker products for two of England’s most famous guitar amp companies. From 1973 to 2000, Grindrod served as Chief Engineer and Director of Research and Development for Marshall Amplification. Under his direction, Marshall produced their most successful product lines to date. In 2000, Grindrod was invited by VOX to become Managing Director and Chief Designer, a position he held until 2008. The products of Grinrod’s work have been heard on countless recordings and are featured on more concert and club stages than could be counted.
President of Onori Entertainment, Richie Onori shares a similar track record within the music industry. With his decades of experience in the music product field and his international recognition as a member of the multi-platinum group The Sweet, Onori will now be the sole distributor of Albion Musical Instruments within the United States. He has also performed with Keith Emerson, Rick Derringer and Brothers Johnson. In 2005, he establish Onori Straps filling a gap missing in this niche market: high quality, superb designs, excellent delivery times, top rated customer service and a diverse product line at prices customers can afford. He is looking forward to introducing this new line to his extensive network of dealers across the country.
To support the new venture in the States, Albion has hired Ant Glynne as Director of Artist Relations. Glynne’s role will be to support the sales of Albion worldwide by establishing international and local artist endorsements. Glynne, himself is an internationally acclaimed musician recording and performing with artists such as Asia, Mike Oldfield, Slash, Rick Wakeman, Albert Collins, and Taj Mahal. In addition, Glynne has composed music for television and film in the United States and Europe. He is currently a counselor at the Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp which is currently being featured on the VH1 television series.
