Dave Holland is one of the most celebrated double bass players on the planet, and his SFJAZZ residency at Miner Auditorium in San Francisco from March 22 to March 25 features Holland in a variety of configurations. Bass Player and Guitar Player are proud to co-present Holland’s new trio with renowned guitarist Kevin Eubanks and drummer Obed Calvaire on Saturday, March 24th.

Holland’s storied history spans over five decades with credits including Miles Davis, Chick Corea, John McLaughlin, and multiple Grammy wins as a bandleader. In 2017 he earned the nation’s highest honor in jazz: an NEA Jazz Masters Award. In 2013, the Wolverhampton, England native unveiled Prism, a visceral electric quartet featuring his longtime collaborator Kevin Eubanks.

Eubanks is probably most famous for running The Tonight Show Band for the better part of two decades after Branford Marsalis stepped down as musical director only two years into Jay Leno’s tenure as host, but Eubanks is a true jazz heavyweight. He’s got an impressive resume as a bandleader and as a sideman for top-notch bandleaders including Art Blakey, as well as with Holland on his Prism (2013) and Extensions (1989) albums.

If you’re planning to be in the San Francisco Bay Area during the third weekend in March, be sure check the SFJAZZ calendar and witness Dave Holland in one of America’s best jazz venues.
