Bass, bass, and more bass—literally. Dumpstaphunk features the two-headed bass monster of Tony Hall and Nick Daniels who tag team Southern funk to glorious layered effect, and opening supergroup TEN features none other than Fishbone founder Norwood Fisher holding down the fort alongside guitar maestro Eric McFadden (P-Funk, Eric Burdon), and former Mars Volta skin basher Thomas Pridgen.
New Orleans-based Dumpstaphunk is perhaps the funkiest band from the funkiest city in the world at this moment, and the Hall/Daniels double 5-string combination provides more than just the foundation—it provides everything from the very bottom to the very top including far-out effected tones, awesome vocals, and frightening stage presence.
TEN is a brand new thang, but do we need to know anything more than Norwood Fisher’s got his hands on the wheel and he’s going to be able to change directions on a whim with two other virtuosos in the trio?
North Bay players and player lovers have got to descend on the venerable Hopmonk Tavern’s new Novato incarnation (in the building that formerly housed the Southern Pacific Smokehouse) for an incredible evening of unparalleled musicianship on Wednesday, April 3rd.
