Bass Player Presents Victor Wooten April 6 at Yoshi’s Oakland—Win Tickets!
Bass Player Presents is proud to welcome Victor Wooten back to the Bay Area for five shows over a three-day span from Saturday, April 4th to Monday, April 6th at Yoshi’s in Jack London Square. BP will be onsite Monday night with free magazines and goodies provided by sponsor D’Addario.
Wooten in undoubtedly one of the most influential bass players in the world, and he needs no introduction to BP readers who have been hanging on his every word and every note for decades. Wooten’s superhuman technical prowess on the instrument allows him to speak volumes in whatever vernacular he chooses, and Wooten’s musical mind is always mixing it up.
When he visited the Bay Area last summer, Wooten introduced Krystal Peterson who wowed the crowd with her mercurial voice. For this engagement Wooten’s band will feature J.D. Blair. The drummer/percussionist is best known for playing with top country acts including Shania Twain and Lyle Lovett, and he appears on Wooten’s most recent recordings. Words and Tones is a collection of original music featuring female vocalists (including Peterson). Sword and Stone contains instrumental versions of many of the same songs.
Come catch Victor Wooten at the East Bay’s finest jazz house and Japanese restaurant. The sound is always spot-on at Yoshi’s where low-end lovers can savor Wooten’s juicy low-end heroics with crystal clarity. Walk out inspired to pick up your bass and try some of Victor’s tricks.
Pick up some inspiration right now by watching “Victor’s Jam.” (You know a bass solo is special when it’s got over two million views!)
