The Cranshaw Family and the Jazz Foundation of America Invite You To Attend

Bob Cranshaw Celebration of Life
Monday, January 30th
at Saint Peter's Church from 6 - 9pm
619 Lexington Avenue
New York, NY 10022

World-renowned bassist and beloved Jazz Foundation board member Bob Cranshaw passed away on November 2nd after a brave battle with cancer.

He died peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones.

Bob's credits as a recording artist and performer were legendary, including hundreds of classic Blue Note Records sessions, breakthrough
television work Saturday Night Live, Sesame Street,The Electric Company and The Dick Cavett Show, and more than 50 years on the road and in the studio with Sonny Rollins.

His collaborations with Milt Jackson, Thelonious Monk and McCoy Tyner were particularly dear to him. His work with Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McCrae and Lena Horne on Broadway highlighted his stellar accompaniment of the world's greatest vocalists.

As an advocate, teacher, and mentor for fellow musicians, Bob's accomplishments were likewise extraordinary, and he was a treasured
leader at the Musicians' Union Local 802 as well as Jazz Foundation.

Bob was a model of humility, professionalism, style, and artistry, as we were honored to note when recognizing him as a "Titan of Jazz" at
"A Great Night in Harlem" on October 27.

Note to all those who love Bob:

If everyone who loved Bob would perform or say a few words, we would need St. Peter's Church for 40 days and 40 nights to accommodate us all!

The musicians closest to him were asked to produce it and the performers have been set.

For the sake of time, Love, and for his family who is still grieving, we ask that you understand no more performers can be added.

But you can show up for Bob... by joining his family on Monday January 30th.

We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating him together.

Yours in Love & Service,
Wendy Oxenhorn

Tony Garnier: Together Through Life With Bob Dylan

TONY GARNIER HAS PLAYED MORE GIGS FOR BOB DYLAN THAN ANY OTHER SIDEMAN. Since joining the Never Ending Tour Band in 1989, Garnier (who, like Dylan, hails from Minnesota) has provided a sympathetic, hard-swinging backbone for the tireless troubadour’s timeless songs. This includes Dylan’s latest, Together Through Life. Tony anchored Asleep At The Wheel, Buster Poindexter, the Lounge Lizards, and Tom Waits before connecting with Dylan while subbing on Saturday Night Live. The Brooklyn-based Garnier shares some insight after 20 years with the original Tambourine Man.
