Brooklyn-based bassist/author Chris Tarry, a Juno-Award winner with the Canadien jazz group Metalwood, who has also performed with Wayne Krantz, Oz Noy, and Natalie MacMaster, releases his debut story collection, How to Carry Bigfoot Home. More details:

My debut book of short fiction, How To Carry Bigfoot Home, drops tomorrow! "Drop" is apparently what all the kids say when an album is released. This, of course, isn't an album, which can be confusing because I'm a bass player. This is a book of adult short fiction (no you can't read it to your kids regardless of the fun cover) and it's being published by one of the best publishers around, Red Hen Press, out in Pasadena.

We have two big events scheduled for the New York area, the first is tomorrow night (Tuesday) at the 55 Bar (7PM), the second is at Greenlight Bookstore (7:30PM) in Brooklyn next week (March 26th).

If you're in NYC tomorrow night, please come out and celebrate. There will be music, and snacks, and books, and I'll be there to sign books while I drink beer, because publishing a book is a big deal and I'll probably want a beer. If you live in Brooklyn and don't feel like trekking into town, then come see one of my favorite writers, Pamela Erens and me discuss the book at Greenlight Bookstore on March 26th at 7:30pm. Both events are FREE!

All the info is below. Oh, and you can buy the book at Amazon or Barnes & Noble. You can even buy it at Walmart if that's your thing. Of course, I'd prefer everyone support a local bookstore, because bookstores are wonderful, and they need our help. Here's a link to find a good one near you.

The Official Book Release Party @ The 55 Bar
55 Christopher Street, West Village, NYC
Tuesday, March 17th, 7-9pm. FREE!
There will be books for sale, snacks, I'll read and sign, and my band will play a bit. It's going to be a blast!

Greenlight Bookstore, In Conversation with Pamela Erens
686 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY
Thursday, March 26th, 7:30pm. FREE!
I'll be talking about the book with one of my favorite writers, Pamela Erens. We'll focus on some of the themes (21st century masculinity, fatherhood, etc), and then break into other topics, possibly astro physics.
