On Guiliana’s latest effort, he enlists close friend Chris Morrissey to play upright on an album consisting of traditional jazz-styled compositions. Morrissey assumes a role in the quartet that’s far beyond a mere rhythm section member. “The Importance of Brothers,” the most bass-centric track, kicks off with a beautiful solo by Morrissey before transitioning into a rhythmic march that displays the chemistry and ease he and Guiliana share.
