Radiohead, John Legend, and Joni Mitchell are just a few of the artists that Robert Glasper takes on with his latest live trio album. Vicente Archer provides creative perspectives on the borrowed material, where he’s most commonly found burrowed in the backbeat of drummer Damion Reid’s emotive playing. Glasper and Archer’s ability to trade melodic phrasings and counterpoints fills a lot of space, but the underlying neo-soul and R&B vibe keeps the core grooves the focal point.
