MY CURRENT BASS RIG INCLUDES THREE Sadowsky 4-strings (an MV4, an MV4-HPJ, and an RV4) that all have Sadowsky Vintage Tone Control (VTC) and drop-D tuners. I also play keyboard bass, and I’ve found that the Roland Ax-Synth has some incredible onboard bass synth sounds. I have tried almost every bass synth pedal on the market over the last five years, as well as MIDI pickups, but nothing came close to the type of bass synth sound I was looking for. The Ax-Synth is the first keytar to have onboard patches, so I don’t need an external sound module.

My sound reinforcement includes an Aguilar DB-751 head, an Aguilar Tone Hammer 500 preamp, and a Mark Bass Randy Jackson TTE- 500. For cabinets, I use Aguilar GS410 4x10 and GS212 2x12 cabs. My pedalboard (not pictured) includes an Aguilar Tone Hammer, a Diamond or MXR Bass Compressor, a Peterson Classic Stomp tuner, a Radial BigShot AB-Y switcher (for bass and the Ax-Synth inputs), and a Dunlop DC Brick on a Pedaltrain pedal board. I also use a Line 6 XDS-PLUS Digital Wireless Instrument System. I have all Monster Bass cables, and I use Auralex Gramma pads (under the cabs and tube heads) and Hercules stands.

I LIVE IN A SMALL ONE-BEDROOM APARTMENT in Los Angeles with my wife and child, so I have to be as effi cient as possible with space without compromising on the wide palette of sounds I need.
