For over 14 years, Grammy nominee, and visionary Doug Wimbish bestowed the passion, culture, integrity, and soul of music to thousands of students in need through the WimBash Music Festival Series. On Saturday, August 18, 2018 from Noon to 10pm the festival comes to New Haven, CT on Long Wharf Drive.

“It only takes a moment to give that spark to a kid” is a driving line of the festival. Bassist Doug Wimbish of the Grammy Award Winning Band Living Colour is the festival’s namesake and motivating force behind that line and the development of the festival itself.

“We couldn’t do this without the help and support of a number of people, including former West Haven Mayor Edward O’Brien who has been instrumental in driving support for our festival and developing community in this area,” stated Mr. Wimbish.
Performances by Brandon "Taz" Niederauer of Broadway’s “School of Rock” fame, internationally renowned guitarist Marcus Machado, youth sensation Unlocking the Truth, Connecticut’s own Funky Dawgz Brass Band and Living Colour’s Corey Glover, Will Calhoun & Doug Wimbish are featured. Hosting the event is world renowned producer and mix engineer Chris Lord-Alge.

The WimBash New Haven Music Festival is the 53rd festival since 2004 of the WimBash Music Series and is supported through sponsorships, volunteers, and donations.

Doug Wimbish and Will Calhoun to Play WesFest 13 at SIR Hollywood

For 13 years, WesFest has raised over $200,000 for continuing bass players through the Wes Wehmiller Scholarship at Berklee College of Music in Boston. Each year's recipient is flown to Los Angeles to have the opportunity to meet Wes's parents and friends, and to experience playing onstage with world-renowned artists. It's the only scholarship of its kind at Berklee!
