Gig Gear LLC, maker of Gig Gear Gloves, has added legendary bassist Stu Hamm to its artist roster. Hamm, who has played alongside such famed guitarists as Joe Satriani and Steve Vai, has also had a successful solo career — establishing himself as one of most influential modern-day bassists. When Hamm hits the road, he protects his hands during the transporting, setting up and tearing down of his rig by wearing his Gig Gloves.
“I love my Gig Gloves,” Hamm said. “They provide just the right amount of protection and weight without being cumbersome. And, they look cool — which is always important! I wouldn't consider going on the road without a pair!”
“I couldn’t be happier to have Stu as one of our Gig Glove endorsers,” said Danny Shatzkes, owner and founder of Gig Gear. “Stu’s status and talent as a bass player and musician is legendary. If there’s anyone who knows how important it is to keep his hands protected and in top condition while out on tour, it’s him. “
Bass rigs are larger, heavier and bulkier than most other rigs, leaving bassists more susceptible to injury. And with a player’s fingers literally being the source of their sound, it’s important for them to protect their hands from the rigors of playing live.
“After meeting with Stu at this past Winter NAMM Show, we were able to get great feedback from him on the various versions of Gig Gloves and that helps us make the best product possible for those using them day-in and day-out out on the road,” Shatzkes continued. “We look forward to continuing to work with Stu and protect his hands, along with the hands of every other bass player gigging out there.”
Featuring a strong nylon threading throughout, Gig Gloves boast TPR molding on the back of the hand and fingers to ensure ultimate protection against impact, abrasions or pinching. Fold-over fingertips allow for use of smaller tools and items, and Gig Gloves work with touchscreen devices without needing to remove the gloves. They are available in three models: Original Gig Gloves, all-black Gig Gloves ONYX and fleece-lined THERMO Gig Gloves and come in 6 sizes (XS-XXL).
