While we do encourage practicing your bass playing as often as possible, we certainly don't promote doing it while driving. Apparently these two drivers didn't get the memo... (props to the news station for properly identifying the bass though)
LONDON — People have been caught doing all sorts of strange things while driving, but playing a musical instrument is probably one of the more unusual activities.
A woman who was on a bus snapped a photo of a man driving a car down a major road in the south of England while also playing a bass guitar.
ITV News reports that the man, who was wearing a suit at the time, was playing a five-string Warwick electric bass on the busy A27 near Chichester in West Sussex. He seems to have one hand on the wheel, the other on the neck of the bass.
"He was definitely playing the guitar and my first thought was: 'Oh my god, is he really doing that?'" Nichola Carr, who took the photo, said, according to the Mirror.
Driving safety experts said they had never heard of anyone playing the bass and driving at the same time.
"We always say you cannot do two things at once if one of them is driving," Neil Greig, director of policy and research at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, told the paper.
A couple of drivers in the U.S. have spotted similar activity recently.
