Stu Brooks is known for wearing many musical hats and accomplishing huge feats on stages and in the studio in the time since he left the Berklee College of Music in 2000. From working with artists like 50 Cent, Lady Gaga, Meshell Ndegeocello, Lauryn Hill, Mark Guiliana, Candiria, Matisyahu, and Pretty Lights, he has toured with Mike Patton and Dr. John, and for the past two years he’s been musical director/producer for electronic rockers GRiZ. His main passion, of course, is being a founding member and composer for his band Dub Trio.
But now Brooks is stepping into a new role as he takes the famed stage of 30 Rockefeller Plaza in New York City to play in the Saturday Night Live Band. Brooks will be filling the bass chair for James Genus, who has held that position since 2000, and will be on the road with Herbie Hancock for the remainder of November.
Catch Stu Brooks on Saturday Night Live on November 10th (Host Liev Shreiber, Musical Guest Lil Wayne) and November 17th (Host Steve Carrell, Musical Guest Ella Mai)) on NBC. Check local listings for airing times.
