Heroes & inspiration I was fortunate to have the opportunity to study with accomplished bassists/musicians in Pittsburgh and at the University of Miami School of Music, as well as my primary heroes/inspiration, including Dwayne Dolphin, Chuck Bergeron, and Matt Bonelli (who have toured with Wynton Marsalis, the Buddy Rich Band, and the Bee Gees, respectively).

How did you come to play bass?

I took lessons on drums, guitar, and bass as a child. When I was old enough in my early teens to perform live, bass seemed to be the most in demand, so I dropped the others and ran with it.

What’s a lesson you’ve learned along the way?

To play like a drummer and a bandleader. I am happiest with my playing when I shift the focus off my part and try to see and feel my role from other perspectives.

What are your musical goals?

To continue to perform with great artists that I can also assist with their careers professionally as an entertainment attorney.
