Today, Grammy-winning bassist & singer Thundercat released a new aural treat for fans from new album “Drunk". The humorous lament on the antithesis of Valentine’s Day - the dreaded friend zone - was produced by Mono/Poly. Hear 'Friend Zone' now and read Pitchfork’s feature with Thundercat looking at love & relationships.

'Friend Zone' is the latest track from Thundercat’s third full-length studio album “Drunk", out 24th February on Brainfeeder. The album is a 23-track epic journey into the often hilarious, sometimes dark mind of the Grammy-winning singer/bassist and finds a few of his friends joining him along the way including: Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, Wiz Khalifa, Kamasi Washington and Brainfeeder mastermind Flying Lotus.

“Drunk" is the follow up to his widely praised 2015 mini album "The Beyond / Where The Giants Roam". The album features fan favourite tracks 'Bus In These Streets' & 'Them Changes' & the single ‘Show You The Way' featuring Michael McDonald & Kenny Loggins.

“Drunk" is available on 24th February on Digital / CD via Brainfeeder, with the vinyl format - comprising four red 10”s housed in a lift-off box featuring photography by Eddie Alcazar and artwork by Zack Fox - following on 10th March. All formats are available to preorder now. Thundercat is also set to tour internationally in support of the album, including a return performance at Coachella Music & Arts Festival, a date at London’s Heaven (28th March) and further UK dates (see below).

Thundercat is the alter ego of virtuosic bassist / singer Stephen Bruner. The Los Angeles-native has released two critically acclaimed full length albums on Brainfeeder Records and mini-album "The Beyond / Where the Giants Roam". Thundercat has also made outstanding contributions to landmark albums by Kamasi Washington ("The Epic") and Kendrick Lamar ("To Pimp A Butterfly"). His work on Lamar’s netted him his first Grammy.

Bruner found his instrument at the age of 4. That made him a late-bloomer in the house of Ronald, Sr., who drummed with the Temptations among others. He joined thrash legends Suicidal Tendencies as a teenager, and spent road and studio time with everyone from Stanley Clarke to Snoop Dogg to Erykah Badu. Eventually the name Thundercat stuck, a reference to the cartoon he’s loved since childhood and an extension of Bruner’s wide-eyed, vibrant, often superhuman approach to his craft.
