Trickfish Amplification welcomes veteran bassist, producer and composer Tim Landers to the Trickfish family
Trickfish is honored to welcome veteran studio bassist, producer and composer Tim Landers to its growing list of endorsers. Tim hails originally from the Boston area where he attended Berklee College of Music and studied privately with renowned bassists Neil Stubenhaus and Whit Brown. After two semesters and a brief tour with Al Kooper, Tim moved to New York City where he spent the next six years playing and recording with Al DiMeola, Billy Cobham, Mike Stern, Gil Evans, Michael Brecker, Tiger Okoshi, Bill Frisell, Nick Pike, Sam Morison, Horace Arnold and many others.
In the mid-1980's Tim headed to the west coast where he soon established himself as one of LA's top session bassists recording with Tori Amos, Vince Neil, Tracy Chapman, Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Vinnie Colaiuta, Tom Scott, The Crusaders, Al Stewart, Gladys Knight, Bill Medley, Graham Nash, Stan Ridgeway, Vital Information, Brian Hughes, Marc Jordan, Beyonce, John Tesh, Taylor Hawkins, Loreena McKennitt, and many, many more. Tim is also a Grammy and Dove Award nominated record producer and song-writer and was recently a member of the short lived but highly acclaimed Crimson Jazz Trio - just before drummer Ian Wallace's untimely death in 2007.
“Tim posted on Facebook that he was on a quest for tone and looking for a new amplifier. He queried the readers for ideas and the floodgates opened. I sent Tim a PM and told of him of the company and the people behind it and his interest was piqued enough to come over and listen. We had a blast. It was encouraging that he seemed genuinely impressed especially after listening to what seemed like every amp on the planet.” States Trickfish founder Richard Ruse. “Tim came by a second time and gave the rig another workout and we sealed the deal. All of us are honored and humbled by his commitment to helping us grow the brand awareness with his formidable skills.”
After having a rig to work with Tim responded via text: “I finally had time today to set up the new rig and I’m just getting to know it. It really sounds amazing. It’s so crystal clear and punchy. It’s the best sounding amplifier I’ve ever played through and that’s no BS. It reminds me of being in a control room and hearing your bass through the Neve and some ATC300’s. I’m stoked – it’s great to have an amp that sounds like yourself – only a lot louder! I hope everyone gets a chance to really play through one of the rigs – it’s addicting. The amp is a game changer.” You can easily check in on Tim anytime by visiting his website: http://timlanders.com
Trickfish Amplification welcomes veteran bassist, producer and Grammy Award winning engineer Hussain Jiffry to the Trickfish family
Trickfish is honored to welcome veteran studio bassist, producer and Grammy Award winning engineer Hussain Jiffry to its growing list of endorsers. Since arriving in California from his native land of Sri Lanka, Hussain has become one of the most sought-after bassists in Los Angeles. His in-the-pocket feel and versatility has kept his phone ringing for over 25 years – no easy feat in the talent rich Los Angeles market. He arrived in LA in 1988 to study music at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood California where, in 1989, he graduated and received the school's highest award, the Vocational Honors Diploma.
Hussain has been a trusted member and recording engineer of the legendary Herb Alpert’s band for the last 9 years but has also graced the stages of Tom Scott, Michael Bolton, Deneice Williams, Hellen Reddy, Mel Carter, Jim Messina, Kenny Loggins, Kevyn Lettau, Word of Mouth, Joe Williams, Kenny Kirkland, Melissa Manchester, Nita Whittaker, Lamont Dozier, David Foster, Michael McDonald, Christopher Cross, Rique Pantoja,Kleber Jorge, Kenia, Justo Almario, Russell Ferrante, Chaka Khan, Dione Warwick, The Dave Weckl band, Robben Ford, Arnold McCuller, The Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, “Yanni”, Steve Winwood, Whitney Houston, Sergio mendes, Jonathan Butler and Tito Puente among others.
“I’ve been looking for a versatile amplifier that compliments the quality of my instruments and playing style.” States Jiffry. “My friend, the great bassist Federico Pol, told me about Trickfish and suggested I call Trickfish founder, Richard Ruse. When I went out for a listen I was stunned. As a bassist I could appreciate the responsiveness, ergonomics and power but as an audio engineer I completely understood the brilliance of Mike Pope’s EQ design. The speakers benefit from the same commitment to perfection - it’s the answer I was looking for. I love playing through my rig… and, as an added benefit, it’s light-weight and fits in the trunk of my car!”
“Hussain immediately grasped our vision of the Bullhead 1K and the design of the speakers. He’s such an accomplished player who can play a multitude of styles with authority and authenticity but it was his deep engineering experience that allowed him to master the electronics almost intuitively.” said Trickfish founder Richard Ruse. “I’ve gone out to hear him play a few times since he picked up his head and two SM112’s and was blown away with his playing, tone and just his overall positive vibe. When I told him this he laughed and said “How can I not be happy? I’m not thinking about the gear anymore, I’m just playing the music!”
