How did you come to play bass? Everyone was playing guitar in high school; I played bass, got more gigs, and never looked back. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
What’s a lesson you’ve learned along the way? When you’re in a stand-in situation and/or not familiar with the tune, use your senses. Watch the bandleader and the drummer’s kick-drum foot. Listen to each part of the melodic parts and support them. Feel the groove before you play it. It doesn’t matter so much if you play the song note for note—just make it groove and you are doing your job.
What are your musical goals? To compose movie soundtracks
