Following the wildly successful Vader Series headless guitars, and after many requests from our customers, Kiesel Guitars and the Carvin Guitars Custom Shop is excited to announce the new Vader Series headless basses. Vader basses are offered in 4, 5 and 6 string versions, and all three models also offer a 30" short-scale option; another feature that has been requested often. Like the Vader headless guitars, the VB4 Vader headless bass is constructed from premium woods, not composites, so their tone isn't a radical departure from our traditional models. The Vader Series headless basses are made in the USA, and loaded with features, along with having Kiesel Guitars full compliment of Custom Shop options available. It's boutique instrument, without the boutique price, because Kiesel Guitars sells directly to you. You can build your Vader VB4 bass exactly the way you want it, and be the proud owner of an instrument that will last you a lifetime.

The Vader VB4 bass is the first headless bass in the history of Carvin Guitars, and the first bass to offer a 30" short-scale option since the early 1970s. The VB4 is unique among headless basses; rather than composites, it has a body made from alder, which is a high-quality tone wood used by many manufacturers because of it's relative light weight and and fine resonating tone. Alder has a subtle and attractive grain that looks great in any of Carvin Guitars' many finishes, including solid colors, translucent finishes and our metallic solid finishes. Optional chambering the body reduces the already light weight of the instrument, making the VB4 comfortable to play for hours on end. Optional body woods such as swamp ash, limba, mahogany, walnut and koa are available, all of which have their own tonal characteristics. You can add highly-figured exotic top woods, such as AAAA flamed maple, AAAA quilted maple, flamed koa, spalted flamed maple, burled maple, zebrawood and California Claro walnut. All of the Custom Shop's neck and fingerboard woods undergo a long conditioning process in our de-humidification chambers to remove any stress in the wood and prevent future warping or twisting, and our woods are carefully hand-selected and inspected to ensure your new VB4 will be free of natural defects.

The neck of the VB4 is made from Eastern hardrock maple, and has a gloss finish standard. The neck-through design creates a smooth neck heel, allowing easy access high on the fingerboard. If you like, you can choose from many of the Custom Shop's optional woods for the neck, such as flamed maple, limba, walnut, koa or mahogany, as well as 5-piece necks in various combinations of exotic woods. An optional satin or tung-oil finish is available on the back. Two high-strength carbon-fiber reinforcing rods are placed in the neck along with a very stout and reliable easy to adjust dual action truss rod. The result is a neck that will remain true and adjustable for the life of the instrument, allowing you to spend more time playing and less time adjusting.

The VB4 has a standard ebony fingerboard with a 14" radius and 34" scale length, adorned with mother-of-pearl diamond inlays standard. Other fingerboard woods, including flamed maple, birdseye maple and zebrawood, are available. A variety of inlay shapes and materials are offered, including blocks and signature inlays in mother-of-pearl and genuine abalone. Black acrylic inlays can also be ordered. The fingerboard has 24 medium-jumbo nickel-silver frets, and other sizes and materials such as stainless steel and gold EVO are offered. You can also order your VB4 in a fretless configuration, with or without fretlines. Our new optional Luminlay super blue side dots glow in the dark, and are idea for dimly-lit stages.

The no-charge 30" short scale option makes an already-compact instrument even easier to fit on crowded stages, and is perfect for travelling with. Its also ideal for bassists with smaller hands, or those simply looking for a more comfortable instrument than the customary 34" scale length.

Electronics on the Vader Series consist of Carvin Guitars' passive module with master volume, master tone and pickup blend controls. A pair of RADHV radiused-top Alnico humbuckers are standard. The radiused top of the pickup closely follows the radius of the strings, allowing for more consistent output across the entire instrument. Optional radiused-top single coil RADJV pickups can be installed for a more traditional jazz sound. Optional active electronics are also available, which consist of master volume/push-pull active passive switch, pickup blend, stacked concentric bass/treble, and stacked concentric mid with sweep.

A Hipshot™ bridge with bridge-mounted tuners is standard. Carvin Guitars has used an assortment of bridges throughout the years, and we've found the Hipshot to be one of the best available. This bridge provides deep punch and definition, and has individual string adjustment which allows you to custom-tailor the intonation of your bass. The Hipshot bridge and specially-designed Kiesel locking headpiece allows you to use standard bass strings. The VB4 comes equipped with Dunlop Super Bright medium-light roundwound strings, and you can also choose medium-heavy, flatwounds or medium-light stainless steel strings. Hardware is black.

Carvin Guitars also offers the Vader VB5 headless bass, which is the 5-string version of this model. It has similar features as the VB4, in a 5-string configuration with available 30" scale option. Like the VB4, the VB5 can be fully customized with a complete selection of Custom Shop options. A six-string model, the VB6, is also available, and it can be ordered with the 30" scale option.

A compact, lightweight body, premium woods and other materials, acclaimed electronics and pickups and hundreds of Custom Shop options make the Kiesel Vader Series headless basses the ideal instrument for any bass player, regardless of experience, playing style or genre. Whether your tastes run from the subdued to the completely over-the-top, the skilled craftsmen of Kiesel Guitars and the Carvin Guitars Custom Shop can build you your dream bass.
