MESA/Boogie® is excited to announce the addition of the compact SUBWAY® D-800+™ Bass Amplifier, SUBWAY® Ultra-Lite 2x10 Bass Cabinet and SUBWAY® BASS DI PREAMPLIFIER to its line of bass products, built in the company’s Petaluma, California shop.

Similar to the award-winning 5.5 lb. SUBWAY® D-800™, The SUBWAY® D-800+™ employs lightweight Class D Power with 8/4 or 2 Ohm Impedance Switch for optimum Power to Load Performance. Output is 800 Watts at 4 or 2 Ohms (400 at 8 Ohms). MESA® reports that in comparison to the D-800’s straightforward approach, the SUBWAY® D-800+™ directly addresses the player who wants enhanced frequency control and an interface for outboard signal processing. The enhanced D-800+ preamp features expand upon the acclaimed D-800 by including a comprehensive EQ section with Semi-Parametric sweep-able LOW and HIGH MID Bands. More preamp enhancements include the addition of a BRIGHT switch and an adjustable HIGH PASS FILTER. MESA claims that the HIGH PASS filter was added to deliver more control over sub-lows in the mix from 30Hz to 150 Hz for achieving tighter response, more detailed articulation and maximum headroom in an ensemble scenario or large venue application. On the Rear Panel, the D-800+ offers a Series Effects Loop, Tuner Output and 1/4” MUTE footswitch jack. The D-800+ Effects Loop is wired in Series with the main signal and provides a seamless interface for outboard processing with the least possible signal degradation.

In addition to the new SUBWAY D-800+ head, MESA is adding a new ultra-lite 2x10 cabinet to its Cabinet lineup. The SUBWAY ULTRA-LITE cabinet series will now give bassists the options of 1x12, 1x15 or 2x10 formats. All SUBWAY Series cabinets house custom Neodymium Speakers. The cabinets are constructed from Lightweight Italian Poplar and have been designed specifically to compliment the SUBWAY D-800 and D-800+ amplifier’s sound and portability.

The final addition to the line is the New SUBWAY BASS DI-PREAMP. If MESA’s goal is to deliver compact bass performance in any possible format a bassist could possibly need, it looks as if they’ve hit the mark. At 1.26 lbs. and approximately 2.5” in height and 7” in width, the SUBWAY BASS DIPREAMP delivers the musical tone and features of the SUBWAY® D-800™ Bass Amp in a compact box. The DI PREAMP has been designed to offer players both gig-bag-pocket portability and supreme connectivity in a pedal board or desktop format. Features Include Gain, Active BASS, LOW-MID, HIGHMID and TREBLE EQ Controls, VOICING Control, ACTIVE/PASSIVE Instrument Select, DEEP Switch, XLR Balanced and ¼” Unbalanced PREAMP Outputs with GROUND LIFT and a Balanced DIRECT Output with PRE/POST SWITCH and GROUND LIFT.

“Our design goal for the entire Subway series is to deliver warm, musical bass tone in the most compact and portable package possible and these new products underscore this goal. From the 5.5 lb. SUBWAY D-800 or the enhanced 6.3 lb. SUBWAY D-800+ to the SUBWAY DI-PREAMP…the SUBWAY Series now gives bassists every option they need to command any venue from club to concert stage... all from the pocket of their gig bag! The new 2x10 ultra-lite cab, like the others, sounds amazing and gives players the choice of 1x12, 1x15 and now 2x10 in uniform stackable formats. The inspirational sound these cabs deliver is really the “other half” of the SUBWAY magic and usicality,” said Doug West, Director of Marketing at MESA/Boogie.
