HAVING GONE THROUGH AT LEAST 20 BASSES through the years looking for the ideal combination, I’ve finally come to a sweet spot in my collection journey. I am completely in love with these beauties. I mainly do session work, write at home, and occasionally go out and slap it around with friends. I purchased all of them new in the year they were made, and built one in 1988.
From left to right: 1985 Steinberger XL2; 2012 Fodera Imperial Purpleheart 5, EADGC, tremolo; 2011 F Bass BNF5 fretless; 1988 handmade 4-string I made out of purpleheart and maple; 2012 Fodera Imperial 5, Matt Garrison cut (my favorite); 2011 F Bass BN5; 1992 Carvin LB76 6-string; 2011 Kala SUB U-Bass 5-string. The amps are a Tecamp Puma 350 1x12 combo with a Bergantino 1x12 cabinet, and the effects are TC Electronic Flashback Delay, TC Electronic Corona chorus, Rodenberg gas 702 db booster, Boss RC-3 Loop Station, Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer, Boss OC-2 Octave Divider. This should do it for a few years. I am just looking for a vintage Jazz Bass, and then I can rest in peace. Either that or I will turn myself in to BCA (Bass Collector’s Anonymous).
